Magnezit Group Ltd. received certificates for the systems of quality management, ecology, industrial safety and labour protection
On April 27. an important event took place at the biggest production site of Magnezit Group Ltd. – Kombinat Magnezit JSC. The enterprise has received international certificates for the systems of quality management, ecology, industrial safety and protection of labour. It should be pointed out that Kombinat Magnezit is the first among the Russian refractory enterprises to receive certificates for the three universally recognized standards of management of the most important business processes.
During its more than 100 hundred years long history Kombinat Magnezit has been producing high-quality products. In 1905 Satka refractories received international recognition: they were awarded a golden medal at the world industrial exhibition in the Belgium city of Liege. Voluntary certification of products has been taking place at the integrated works since 2002. By the end of 2007 it is planned to bring the volume of voluntary certified products up to 23 percent. Quality of Kombinat Magnezit products is confirmed also on the regional and all-Russia levels. Since 2003 the enterprise has been participating in competitions “20 best products of Chelyabinsk region” and “ 100 best products of Russia”. Every year refractory products are awarded with the title of laureates.
In 2004 management of the enterprise has taken upon itself additional obligations in the field of environmental protection. A decision was adopted about the necessity to develop and introduce international standard ISO 14001. In 2006 the commission of certifying audit of ecological management system recommended Kombinat Magnezit for obtaining certificate of international standard ISO 14001.
At the same time international certification organization TUV NORD CERT carried out audit of management systems as for its correspondence to the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. It was confirmed that presented systems correspond to the requirements of these standards in the field of industrial safety and protection of labour.
Since October 2004 Kombinat Magnezit has begun changing the acting system of work for protection of labour in accordance with the requirements of the international standard OHSAS 18001-1999. After identification of dangers it was decided to lower risks and a program was elaborated for achieving this target.
Currently all the three systems of quality management became part of the new version of the enterprise’s politics. Targets of management systems and principles of their achievement are united in this document. Nearly 100 percent of the combine’s employees studied at the courses “Politics of the plant in the field of quality, environmental protection, industrial safety and protection of labour.” All newly employed people study at obligatory courses after which they receive special certificates.
According to the President of Kombinat Magnezit JSC Mr. Sergei Korostelyov receiving of international certificates legally confirms ability of the enterprise to carry out its activity on the high level of the world economy. “ Currently all the leading international companies wish to make business only with those enterprises which had been certified for correspondence to the requirements of the generally recognized world standards, - Mr. Korostelyov said, - It means that we have an opportunity in the nearest perspective to expand the number of customers who buy our products including those from foreign countries. It instills confidence in further flourishing of the enterprise and this in its turn will promote rising of living standards of the enterprise’s employees. And in the final analysis this is our aim.
