Magnezit Group masters production of new kinds of novel refractories at Panteleymonovka Refractory Plant

Magnezit Group masters production of new kinds of novel refractories at Panteleymonovka Refractory Plant (settlement Panteleymonovka, town Gorlovka, Ukraine), which has become part of the company in early 2012.

Testing of novel grades of refractories in amount of 200 tons will be carried out in the lining of steel-teeming ladles of the biggest metallurgical plants of Ukraine. Earlier the plant produced magnesia-carbon bricks in a limited range and volume of their production didn’t exceed 200 tons per month.

New grades of refractory bricks correspond by their physical and technical properties to the analogous products of leading world producers of refractories. Mass fraction of MgO in them exceeds 97%, with mass fraction of carbon 8-12%, apparent density amounts to 3,07-3,11 g/sm3, open porosity — from 2,5 to 4%, compression strength — from 40 to 65 N/mm2. Production of the first trial lot of the bricks confirmed possibility of production of high-quality carbon containing refractories in existing conditions of the plant.

Growth of volumes of production of novel magnesia-carbon bricks is one of the key directions of development of the plant. This task is being solved by a group of specialists of Directorate of Technological Developments of Magnezit Group and Panteleymonovka Refractory Plant. They have developed a new system of classification of magnesia-carbon bricks, which includes 30 main grades and 150 subsorts. According to this classification in the range of products of the plant there will be magnesia-carbon bricks on the basis of fused and sintered periclase with MgO content from 95 to 98 %, with functional additives and special binders.

Magnezit Group is going to increase by 2014 at Panteleymonovka Refractory Plant volumes of production of magnesia-carbon refractories up to 25 thousand tons annually and to organize production of high-magnesia fluxes in amounts up to 100 thousand tons annually. Production of burnt bricks and forsterite will be continued, but it is not planned to increase volumes of production.

As a result annual production capacity of the plant will exceed even for a medium term 150 thousand tons. It will become possible thanks to deliveries of «Russian magnesia» — high quality refractory material: fused and sintered magnesia, produced by plants of Magnezit Group from high quality raw materials. For implementation of these plans capacities of the plant will be reorganized. It will allow to enter qualitatively new level of development.

Magnezit Group is a recognized leader in the sphere of production of magnesia products. The company ensures full production cycle of refractories — from mining of raw materials up to engineering and maintenance service. 15 production and servicing units on the territory of Russia, China, Slovakia and Ukraine make part of the Group as well as a wide network of servicing and trading representative offices.
