The Group

Magnezit Group stands tall as the largest national manufacturer of refractories and provider of technological solutions based on them for many industries

The Group at a glance

Magnezit Group carries out a full cycle of mining operations and production of refractory products. At the same time, to support the technological development of our customers, we aim to create a comprehensive ecosystem of engineering solutions from design and supply to installation, maintenance and subsequent disposal of waste refractory products.

Our refractories, manufactured on the basis of mineral raw materials, are used to protect high-temperature units from thermal influences. Among the consumers of the group’s products are many basic industries, the production of which involves extreme temperature processes.

The main consumer of refractories produced by the Group with a share of nearly 60% is ferrous metallurgy, among others — the cement industry, non-ferrous metallurgy, glass production and many others.

Our resources

Raw material independence is one of the important competitive advantages of the Group. The reserves of our magnesite deposits ensure over 100 years of production at the current levels of output. Mining is carried out in quarries and mines at two main production sites.

In Satka, Chelyabinsk region, where our production started with the discovery of magnesite back in 1901, we extract resources of the Satkinskoye and Yelnichnoye deposits. Historically, main production facilities are also located there, which is due to the developed transport infrastructure and proximity to the main consumers in the European part of Russia. A number of quarries, such as Stepnoy and Berezovsky, have already been decommissioned, and the Group is currently implementing projects for their water reclamation.

At the Razdolinsk production site (Krasnoyarsk region), the extraction and processing of magnesite has started recently, just about two decades back. Over there, two deposits — Kirgiteysky and Talsky — provide us with especially pure raw materials, the basis of premium brands of refractory products, including Russian Magnesite. Our total reserves in Siberia exceed 105 million tons.
