105 – th anniversary of Kombinat Magnezit

On July 16. 2006. Magnezit Group Ltd. celebrates 105 – th anniversary since the day of foundation of its main enterprise – Kombinat Magnezit.

Currently Magnezit Group Ltd. is the world leader in production of magnesia refractories and rank on a par with such world known companies as RHI, Visuvius. Kombinat Magnezit JSC is the biggest plant in the world for production of refractories. Its share of the world production totals to 5 %. Currently Kombinat is actively developing: 361,1 thousand tons of refractory shaped products were produced (powders not included) which is 6 % more in comparison with the last year.

Strategy and perspectives of investment development of the enterprise for today are determined by its main shareholders: President of Kombinat Magnezit JSC, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Chelyabinsk region Mr. Sergei Korostelyov, Chairman of the Board of directors of Magnezit Group Ltd. Mr. Vladimir Dunayev. Solving of technological and innovational aspects of the business is in the competence of the General director of Kombinat Magnezit JSC Mr. Igor Anikievich.

Innovational potential of the enterprise strengthened during recent years  thanks to managerial decisions of the company’s management Its specialists develop together with engineers of Magnezit Group Ltd. new kinds of shaped and unshaped refractoris. One of the latest achievements is development of refractory shaped products of periclase carbon composition with record service life of 5390 heats (while average service life indices at the biggest plants of ferrous metallurgy averages 2965 heats at Nizhni Tagil Metallurgical Combine, 2218 heats at NovoLipetzk Metallurgical Combine, 2843 heats at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Combine, 4634 heats at Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine).

Clinker technology of magnesia powders production is successfully perfected. Qualitative breakthrough took place in production and technological base of the plant: press equipment and thermal units were modernized, automated system of technological processes management was introduced. Investments volumes into development of Kombinat in 2005 totaled 1 billion rubles. Another 4, 7 billion rubles will be invested during the period up to the year 2010.

Kombinat Magnezit JSC. is the only big plant of the town Satka Chelyabinsk region. The whole life of the town depends upon Kombinat. The most part of the social infrastructure of the town: Palace of culture, Palace of sport, vocational school, hospital are on the balance of Kombinat Magnezit. More than 200 million rubles are annually allocated by the management of  Kombinat for social programs. Reconstruction of the Palace of sport has been finished in the framework of investment program 2006. In autumn 2006 construction of a new block of flats in microdistrict Zapadny will be finished. Reconstruction of the children’s recreational camp will be begun. Nearly one third of the town’s population works at Kombinat Magnezit. Anniversary of the plant is not only corporative event, it is a big event for all inhabitants of Satka the more so as traditionally anniversary of the plant coincides with the professional holiday of Magnezit’s employees – Day of metallurgists.

The Governor of Chelyabinsk region Pyotr Sumin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Myakush, representatives of partner companies and metallurgical plants will come to congratulate inhabitants of Satka. Deputies of the State Duma will visit festive events in the framework of celebration of Kombinat Magnezit anniversary.

According to the Chairman of the Board of directors of Magnezit Group Ltd. Vladimir Dunayev “Employees of the plant are proud of their history. As early as in 1905 Satka refractories were awarded Golden medal at the first World Industrial Exhibition in Belgium city Liege. To date Kombinat Magnezit is laureate of international and Russian exhibitions devoted to high technologies, innovations and quality of products. For more than one hundred years Kombinat upholds high its reputation for quality of refractories.
