Magnezit Group signs cooperation agreement with Brazil’s Vamtec

The distribution and research agreement forms part of the Russian magnesia and refractory producer’s strategy to build its global presence. By marketing its products in Brazil it is going up against Magnesita, so any impact is likely to be seen in end of year results 2015.
Russian magnesia producers Magnezit Group has taken a decisive step into the Brazilian market by signing a sales agreement with Brazil’s Vamtec SA, a trader and producer of goods for steel and cement industry.
The signing of the agreement is in line with the company’s strategy to strengthen its position on a global scale, Magnezit’s director Sergei Odegov highlighted in an announcement on Thursday.
«Cooperation with the company Vamtec, which possesses considerable experience of work with metallurgical and cement plants in Brazil, will let Magnezit Group find new possibilities for growth and continue efficient development of business in the South American market,» Odegov said.
As well as the distribution agreement, Vamtec and Magnezit have pledged to work together on developing new products for the metallurgical industry.
This is the latest in a string of new developments for Magnezit. In July, the company commissioned its first batch of periclase clinkers from its Satka, Chelyabinsk production site.
The company has constructed a new milling line and a new 80,000 tpa shaft kiln. The shaft kiln began commissioning in July 2013 and is the largest of its kind in the world. Most shaft kilns have a maximum capacity of 50,000 tpa.
The multi-hearth furnace can produce 100,000 tpa periclase clinkers and was developed specially for Magnezit Group by Germany’s Polysius AG, as was the shaft kiln.
It also developed a new set of glass refractory bricks, which were manufactured at Satka.
«During recent several years we carried out a number of considerable changes in the company including construction of the unique Complex for production of magnesia clinker in Satka, Chelyabinsk region, purchasing of a new deposit in Krasnoyarsk Territory, which is one of the biggest and one of the most high quality in the world,» Odegov said.
