Magnezit Group has developed the Strategic Program of environmental safety for the Satka production site for the period
2011-2020. The document states that environmental safety and preservation of nature is an absolute priority in the activity of Magnezit Group. The total volume of capital investments in nature conservation activities in the framework of the Strategic Program amounts to 5 billion rubles.The program contains a wide range of ecological measures for the nearest decade practically in all spheres of the company’s activity. In particular, by the middle of 2011 implementation of the program for reduction of excessive emissions will be finished ahead of schedule. The document envisages measures for protection of all components of the natural environment: atmospheric air, surface and underground water, soil and vegetation in addition to the list of obligatory works approved by the regional government.
In the current year the company will continue works for installation of up-to-date bag filters of the Austrian firm Scheuch Gmbh in the gas scrubbing facilities of rotary kilns № 4 in the first area of the kiln shop (TsOMP) and furnace № 1 of the magnesite powder shop № 3 (TsMP-3) of the Magnezit Group Production Department. Such filters have the efficiency coefficient of practically 100 per cent and have shown good results. In 2010 analogous filters were installed at the gas scrubbing facilities of the rotary kilns № 5 and № 6 in the first area of TsOMP.
In the framework of the program it is envisaged to reconstruct 15 dust-exhaust installations including the crushing department at the Crushing and Concentration Plant. This will enable considerable dust reduction in working areas. In the current year the company will begin design works for diminishing discharge of industrial effluent to the water basin, as well as cleaning air from gaseous substances generated by drying of periclase-carbonaceous articles. One of the serious environmental problems remains storage, decontamination and utilization of industrial waste. Under the Program expansion of the RSW dump new section is planned which will correspond to all environmental standards.
Every year Magnezit Group increases volumes of capital investments in the nature conservation activities. The large-scale program of technical upgrading providing for introduction of innovative technological concepts and raising the energy efficiency of production which is realized at present at enterprises of the Group’s Satka site, will also substantially reduce the load on the environment. A particular place among these measures is occupied by works of realizing a strategic task of transition to the clinker technology. The innovative technology of periclase clinker production has proved in practice its high economic and environmental effectiveness. Magnezit Group plans to expand the clinker production capacities through construction of shaft and multiple-hearth furnaces. The multiple-hearth furnace is a unique thermal unit for our country. It will enable taking out of service the rotary kilns which are at present the main source of dust emissions.
Understanding the high level of responsibility for environment preservation before future generations Magnezit Group aspires to ensure environmental safety at each stage of the technological cycle.
