Magnezit Group completes modernization of gas-cleaning units of the Workshop for burning of magnesite powder

The project of modernization of gas-cleaning units of the 1-st subdivision of the Workshop for burning of magnesite powder of Production department of Magnezit Group (town Satka, Chelyabisnk region) with total cost of 400 mln. rubles entered its final stage.

Technical re-equipment of the gas-purification system of the rotary kiln № 6 is coming to an end. Morally and physically outdated electric filters are changed for modern filter bags of the Austrian company Scheuch Gmbh. In December the new gas-cleaning units with 100 percent coefficient of efficiency will be commissioned.

New bag filters have no analogues at the similar production facilities neither in Russia, nor in CIS. In comparison with electric filters the new equipment enables to lower emissions of dust into atmosphere by more than 50 times. Gas-cleaning installations are powerful industrial units with double stage system of air cleaning. They include a group of eight cyclones and the bag filter itself. It consists of 1800 bags 5 meters long made of high-technology high-temperature material. Production capacity of the units is up to 360 th. m³ per hour. Dusty air passes through the chamber of dirty gas, which consists of a system of bags, and is purified for 99,9%. The layer of dust in the bags is regenerated with a stream of compressed air. Dust falls into the bunker of the filter and then is transferred to special concrete containers and from them is delivered for further treatment and production of bricks.

Rotary kilns are nowadays one of the main sources of dust emission. Technological process of high-temperature burning of raw magnesite is accompanied by formation of fine-dispersed dust. It is very difficult to trap it during the process of filtration. It is a valuable raw material for production of shaped refractories. Magnezit Group implements program of modernization of rotary kilns. In the framework of this program in 2009 rotary kiln № 7 was launched after complete reconstruction and installation of the bag filter. In July 2010 there was commissioned a new bag filter of the rotary kiln № 5 after modernization of gas-cleaning system.

Lowering of dust emission after reconstruction of gas-cleaning units at the kilns № 5 and № 6 amounted to 99%, and total dust emission will not surpass 50 tons per year.

Ensuring ecological safety of production, lowering of negative impact on environment, improvement of condition of atmospheric air in Satka and environs – all these are the key directions of Magnezit Group strategy aimed at innovative development and technological renovation of the company. These are serious steps on the way to European standards of ecological safety of production.
