Control complex

In February 2023 an unscheduled field inspection was carried out at the Satka production site of Magnezit Group - PJSC "Magnezit Combine" by state inspectors of the Russian Federation in the field of environmental protection. During the control measures were carried out measurements at the main emission sources, according to the results of which there were no facts of exceeding the content of harmful pollutants.

"In accordance with the expert opinion of the branch of FSBI "CLATM UFD" in the Chelyabinsk region № 1 from 13.02.2023 by sampling, laboratory research, measurements and tests within the framework of state control (supervision) in the field of natural resource management and environmental protection at the control points it was found that the concentration of pollutants was not exceeded", - it is noted in the act of the Federal Supervisory Service of Russia on the results of the inspection.

The examination of documents and other requirements, carried out during the inspection, will also become the basis for further improvement of the environmental control system of the Group. The planned activities include development of regulatory documents to update information on the enterprise's emission sources in the register of facilities having an adverse environmental impact, improvement of methodology and organization of sampling and measurement processes at the equipment, as well as elimination of remarks and scheduled preventive maintenance of the dust and gas collection units and gas treatment units in operation.

— Our specialists work out an «Action program for reduction of emissions of harmful (polluting) substances in the atmosphere and reduction of dustiness at work places», the volume of investments and measures under which is one of the most impressive in the scale of the whole ecological agenda, — says Oksana Sheina, Quality Director of Magnezit Group. — So, in the investment program for 2023 it is planned to repair 13 aspiration systems in the production department.

In accordance with the current Environmental Policy Magnezit Group continues to fulfill its obligations in the field of environmental protection. In each of the Group’s investment projects no less than 20% of investments are associated with environmental safety.

In addition, Magnezit Group continues to implement the agreement signed in 2020 on cooperation with the government of the Chelyabinsk region to protect the population from the effects of harmful emissions into the air. This agreement provides for the implementation of a number of environmental measures aimed at modernizing existing equipment and introducing new, more modern and environmentally effective technologies. Information on the progress of measures to improve the environmental situation in Satka is sent to the regional government and the Ministry of Ecology on a monthly basis.

According to the Sustainability Report of Magnezit Group, in recent years the Group has achieved a 26% reduction in gross atmospheric emissions compared to 2019. It also managed to reduce the most dangerous types of emissions — gaseous nitrogen oxide compounds (by 40%), carbon oxides (by 53%) and sulfur oxide. Total energy consumption and fuel emissions of greenhouse gases were reduced by more than 10%, which is the result of the investment program realized by Magnezit Group with the total volume of 34 billion rubles, an important part of which are measures of implementation of new energy-efficient production technologies.
